ILMU Life-Changing Mats™

Put connection on the table.

Small moments. Meaningful conversations.

Placemats that turn everyday meals into moments of conversation, reflection and intention.

Small moments matter

You don’t need a perfect family dinner. Just one good question.

A few unhurried minutes, a question worth answering and someone ready to listen. That is where connection begins, at breakfast, after school, at dinner or on family night.

Courtney’s story

Why did we create these placemats?

Most of us know someone who has lost a family member, friend or loved one to suicide. I know I have, more than once.

As a mom, I’m scared for my girls growing up in this new world of technology. So I designed these placemats to teach vulnerability and to create a safe space for my children. Every day, usually around the dinner table, I invite them to share anything that’s going on in their lives: gratitude, celebrations, values, challenges, joy, sadness and lessons still being learned.

The placemats help us build rapport and deeper relationships, so we are ready for the hard conversations that matter in a healthy family.

As parents, we have a choice. We can show up, listen and validate our children’s feelings without judgment. I choose that, every day.

By no means are these placemats a cure. They are one tool, one strategy, to open up conversations with our children before they’re needed. Parents deserve every tool in the toolbox, and I’m no longer afraid to ask for help.

With gratitude, Courtney

How it works

Three steps. No script.

  1. Place it.

Wherever your people already eat, learn or gather.

  2. Ask one.

One question is enough. Grown-ups answer too.

  3. Listen.

No fixing, no lecturing. Every child is free to pass.
